I came upon a tree sprouting an ugly fruit that had the skin of an orange and shape and color of a pear. It was speckled with what looked like toasted sesame seeds and white jimmies. Biting through the rind was pleasant—smooth texture with no bitterness like what normally comes with citrus. The center was a light and fluffy, chocolate nougaty bit of heaven. When asked its name, I was told: Nougayum.
Thank you, Willy Wonka.
